Having grown up as a homosexual in the grey landscapes of the French province with a violent, alcoholic and far-right father with homophobic tirades, he decides in this text to confront this paternal figure now seriously ill, to translate an anger that he transforms into compassion. From his father's bruised body, Édouard Louis undertakes a combative rewriting of France's recent political and social history.
