Since he got a repeat offender murderer acquitted, Master Jean Monier has not taken on any more criminal cases. The encounter with Nicolas Milik, a family man accused of murdering his wife, touches him and makes him question his certainties. Convinced of his client's innocence, he is prepared to do everything to help him win his trial in court, thus rediscovering the meaning of his vocation.
