collectif9 offers an explosive program for string quintet and drums that explores several contemporary languages deeply rooted in folk and urban cultures with drummer Ronny Desinor. URBAN NATURE features pieces by Gabriella Smith, Giovanni Sollima, Curtis Stewart, Vijay Iyer, John Zorn, and Jessie Montgomery. The music is groovy and percussive, but also at times dissonant and exploratory, influenced by jazz, funk, and folk music.
