In Ilhada, her new album, Mônica Freire proposes a musical journey where her native Brazil meets the Middle East. Reflecting the journey of an artist who feeds on her various influences, the songs, at times danceable and impactful, navigate between Portuguese and French. Delicate and poetic pieces where identities and exile are discussed, but also strength and joy.
