Melodic charm, virtuosity, and passion are the ingredients that Bruch brings together in his magnificent Violin Concerto No. 1, and it is with extraordinary fervor that Dvořák expresses his wonder at nature in his Symphony No. 8. Two female composers will also be honored at this concert: Florence Price, with a meditative piece, and Anna Thorvaldsdottir, for a spiritual journey in music.
