The material body marks a symbolic return to the ancestral roots of artist Stanley Wany, taking the memory paths that lead to Ilé-Ifẹ̀, the founding city of Yoruba cosmology. A mythical cradle of deities and cultures of West Africa, Ifẹ̀ becomes a starting point here for a broader exploration of the African continent, in search of the buried or fragmented traces that have resisted the dispossessions of the transatlantic slave trade.
